Taekwondo

For more than 25 years, Variety Village has provided martial arts classes for students of all ages and abilities.

Under the curriculum and guidelines of the Young Choung Taekwondo™ Academy, this specialized program is ideal for recreational and competitive streams, with the main focus on Taekwondo’s sport principles.

With its own separate entrance located at the south end of the building, the space is equipped with Olympic Taekwondo-approved floor mats, padded pillars for kicking and a mirrored area, allowing students to develop their form.

Our coaching staff develop under the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) standards. Taekwondo classes follow the LTAD (long term athlete development) model, with the focus on purposeful practice.

Head Coach: Master Rommel Cabanatan, ChPC-6th Dan
Master Rommel Cabanatan is a past Provincial & National Team Coach
With  NCCP Level 4, Diploma in High Performance Coaching, he is also an International Referee and is the Tournament Director, Learning Facilitator & Evaluator. Also a former Member of the Provincial, Military & Canadian National Team.
