Flames Swim Team

The Variety Village Flames Swim Team provides athletes with disabilities the opportunity to train, compete, and achieve their personal best in a supportive and inclusive environment. As a Swim Ontario-affiliated club, athletes develop stroke technique, endurance, racing skills, and confidence through structured training that follows the principles of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD). Whether working toward their first swim meet or pursuing provincial, national, and international competition, every swimmer is supported in reaching their individual goals.

Led by experienced coaches, the Flames Swim Team has a long history of developing athletes at every stage of their competitive journey. Through individualized coaching, progressive training plans, and a positive team culture, swimmers build not only their performance in the pool but also confidence, resilience, and lifelong friendships. Training alongside teammates in Variety Village's fully accessible aquatic facility, athletes become part of a community committed to excellence, inclusion, and a lifelong love of swimming.

Flames Athlete Pathway

Our Flames pathway follows the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, helping athletes progress from learning the fundamentals to developing advanced skills and competitive performance. With age- and developmentally-appropriate programming, athletes can transition through each level with the support of experienced coaches, building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of sport.
