Sunshine Swim Team

The Sunshine Swim Team provides athletes with a supportive and inclusive environment to develop their swimming skills and reach their personal goals. Guided by our mission to build a program founded on Excellence in Training, Team Unity, Independent Development, and Support from friends, family, and the community, every practice, competition, and team experience is designed to help athletes thrive both in and out of the pool.

As part of Special Olympics Ontario, our coaches focus on skill development, confidence, and competitive success while creating a strong sense of belonging. Athletes train alongside a network of competitive clubs across Ontario, giving them meaningful opportunities to progress in the sport while representing Sunshine with pride, respect, and teamwork. Together with dedicated coaches, families, volunteers, and the Variety Village community, we create an environment where every swimmer is supported to achieve their personal best.

Athlete Pathway

Our Sunshine pathway follows the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, helping athletes progress from learning the fundamentals to developing advanced skills and competitive performance. With age- and developmentally-appropriate programming, athletes can transition through each level with the support of experienced coaches, building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of sport.
